A year ago, I wrote about a new trend – wooden watches – and one of the original companies that started the movement, JORD. A year later, the wood watch trend is fully here to stay, with endless varieties of shapes, styles and wood types/colors to choose from.
Last year, I opted for the purely round, oversize Frankie watch in light-colored zebrawood and champagne. This year, I went for a smaller and darker watch, albeit maybe a bolder one, the Reece watch in a rectangle shape with dark sandalwood, golden camphor and a khaki face.
The Reece watch is the ultimate in sophistication. I didn’t have to worry about the face being too large for my wrist. The rectangular shape is unique, quelling my fears that everyone would have a watch just like it. And the alternating wood links are super funky and allow me to match it to both dark and light-colored outfits.
I love it for the holidays – it goes great with a winter sweater, it looks great against my favorite fur vest and it “beautifies” an ugly sweater.
JORD watches are also great gifts – everyone needs a high-quality watch that looks great for everyday wear or for the workplace/professional meetings. But few people shell out over $100 for a gift for themselves.
Have you gotten on board with the wood watch trend? Let me know in the comments!
