Lately, the news is full of articles and studies showing just how harmful nail polish is. We know that we’re putting chemicals on our nails, but hardly think about what our skin and bloodstream are absorbing. We get gel manicures, but don’t think about the skin damage our fingers are suffering as we sit with them under a UV lamp.
EMMA is a new nail polish company designed for Millennials who are conscious about the brands they support. EMA nail polish is 100% vegan and cruelty-free (not tested on animals). It’s also 7-Free, a new term I had to learn about. 7-Free means that the nail polish is free of 7 dangerous chemicals that are commonly found in nail polish: Toulene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, TPHP and Xylene.
Another neat thing about EMMA is that they release 6 new colors every month into their EMMA V.S.N.P. (Very Special Nail Polish) collection. That level of variety is clutch! The nail polishes are also a fast-dry formula. For gel nail polish lovers, there is also EMMA V.S.G.P.
I tested out the EMMA holiday collection, 12 shades that all contain a various level of shimmer and glitter, perfect for holiday parties and events.
The November holiday shades include I’m Naughty and I Love It, You Molten My Heart, Rose Gold is My Fav, Candy Cane Lane, Meet Me Under the Mistletoe and Merry Kiss-Man.
December holiday shades include Tis the Season to Shop, Yule Bring Me Into ’19, Let’s Go Skating in NYC, Pour Me a Glass of Bubbly, Want to Play in the Snow and I Prefer Tiffany Over Fruitcake.
I immediately gravitated toward Tis the Season to Shop, a pink shade with glitter. It’s not light pink and it’s not dark pink. The shade is hard to describe. I usually stick to nude or very light pink nail polish shades, if I don’t have a French mani. So I thought this shade would be a good starting point as I branch into darker, bolder shades for the holidays.
I started with the EMMA V.S.N.P. Stuck on You Base Coat, then added 2 coats of nail polish. I topped it off with EMMA V.S.N.P. Rock Hard Top Coat.
So far, the nail polish has held up really well! I usually chip my nail polish by the time I walk out of the salon. But I’m writing this 2 days later and no chips.
