It’s tempting to play it safe and wear black at night, or for a work-related function. It’s safe, it’s probably conservative, you know you’ll fit in. But what about when you DON’T want to fit in?
I like maroon because it is such a pretty color. But it’s also dark enough to wear at night or for non-flashy events, and is even considered festive around the holiday season. Maroon is practically a neutral this time of year, and I make the most of it.
This maroon long-sleeved shirt is from H&M’s Basics collection. It’s super soft and fits great. I paired it with this white high-waisted pencil skirt, also from H&M. I don’t care about any rules about white after Labor Day – there’s nothing like crisp white against rich color!
Next, I added these brown suede ankle booties from Fashion Rush Clothing. Although I have been told by many a member of the male species that they look like “elf boots” or something out of Lord of the Rings, I love them anyway. I especially love how they hit a little higher up on the ankle, so that you can safely wear socks with them and not worry about having them show. And even though they are stilettos, they are still incredibly comfortable to wear.
I had a ton of fun with accessories for this outfit. This long gold lariat necklace is from Forever 21. I like necklaces with this little arrow/whatever piece at the end of a long chain. The design draws the eyes down, elongating your figure and making you look taller.
Next I added a Luminous Five Times Wrap bracelet from Nakamol. This item arrived in my Rocksbox jewelry set, and I had NO IDEA what to do with it. I had to email someone at Rocksbox (thanks for being super understanding and friendly!) to find out how to secure it on my wrist. Once I had it on, I realized that the piece is actually super fun and pretty different from the other jewelry on the market. My right-hand ring is from Tiffany’s.
