In My Kitchen: La Victoria Mild Salsa Tasting

There’s nothing like fresh tortilla chips and a delicious salsa for a midday snack. I had the opportunity to try LA VICTORIA’s entire line of new mild salsas. One sunny weekend day after playing in the pool, my husband and I set up our own little salsa tasting to give them a try!

First up, LA VICTORIA Thick n Chunky Salsa Mild
Description: “Crisp and refreshing, LA VICTORIA Thick n Chunky Salsa Mild has all of the goodness of crunchy chile peppers, onions and chunks of ripe tomatoes without the extra heat.”
Britt’s rating: 6 – I like the tomato chunks. Decent flavor but could be more flavorful.
Sean’s rating: 6 – This is a good salsa.

LA VICTORIA SUPREMA Salsa Mild
Description: “Each jar of LA VICTORIA SUPREMA Salsa Mild is packed with crisp onions and bell peppers, Santa Fe chiles and flavorful red-ripe tomatoes.”
Britt’s rating: 3 – This tastes like ketchup.
Sean’s rating: 4 – It tastes like nacho cheese salsa.

LA VICTORIA Organic Chunky Salsa Mild
Description: “Made with the highest-quality, non-GMO ingredients, LA VICTORIA Organic Chunky Salsa Mild starts with simple, USDA organic tomatoes to deliver an authentic flavor like no other!”
Britt’s rating: 8 – This is a solid salsa. Looks and tastes really good.
Sean’s rating: 8 – Presentation is good. Has a good kick.

LA VICTORIA Roasted Pepper Mild
Description: “LA VICTORIA Roasted Red Pepper Mild features five classic chile peppers – poblano, chipotle, ancho, jalapeño and Serrano – roasted to perfection.”
Britt’s rating: 10 – My tongue is on fire. It’s too spicy for me but I love the roasted profile so much.
Sean’s rating: 9 – A little watery – would be better with the same flavors, but chunky.

LA VICTORIA Thick n Chunky Salsa Verde Mild
Description: “LA VICTORIA Thick n Chunky Salsa Verde Mild features the mild and refreshing flavors of tomatillos, and garlic along with the heat of jalapeño peppers all come together to make something truly authentic.”
Britt’s rating: 7 – I love tomatillos! However, I think the jalapeño flavor overshadows the tomatillos too much.
Sean’s rating: 5 – It’s too vinegary. Reminds me of a dill pickle.

Our overall rating:
The winner: LA VICTORIA Roasted Pepper Mild was our favorite by far! The five-chile flavor profile was bold, unique and delicious.
