I’ve always heard good things about Blue Daisy Cafe but hadn’t tried it out for myself. When my friend, who lives in Santa Monica, suggested we go to brunch, this was her first choice. Although I don’t often eat healthy food, I was excited to give it a shot!
Blue Daisy Cafe is in a centrally located spot, on the corner of 6th and Broadway in Downtown Santa Monica. That means it is walking distance from one of Santa Monica’s many public parking structures.
I parked and walked over to meet my friend. Walking in, the atmosphere is so cute and relaxing. There is a small front patio, a small inside area and a larger patio in the back, which is where we sat. The table was decorated with little pots of cuts of flowers, and you could easily people-watch from the patio.
Opening the menu is an overwhelming experience. There are seemingly endless options, and Blue Daisy serves breakfast every day until 4 p.m.! So you first have to choose between and then among the salads, paninis, crepes, sweets, sandwiches, egg dishes and sides. The best part about this cafe is that they are totally open to customization. My friend basically invented her own salad. Not only was the cafe accommodating, but our server loved the idea so much that she decided she was going to get that custom salad too!
As it was a bit later in the day, I opted to order lunch. I chose the caprese panini with basil pesto sauce. Unfortunately, as Blue Daisy is a super healthy restaurant, the panini was served with a very green, very healthy salad. The only other side options were fruit or sliced tomatoes, and they don’t even have ranch dressing.
Blue Daisy is definitely a bit on the pricey side, but the quality of food, niceness of the servers, central location and adorable patio makes it definitely worth it. It’s a great spot to go out with the girls or on a date! I’ll definitely be back.
