Shameless Foodie: Laurel Hardware

Ever since Laurel Hardware opened on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, I have wanted to try it out. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the food and the atmosphere. I finally got a chance to check it out this week when my friend Cindy suggested we go out for drinks.

The atmosphere WAS amazing! I was surprised and a little disappointed that there wasn’t much of a bar vibe going on. The bar area is small, cramped and off to the side. Most of the restaurant is dedicated to a strange front part in a brightly-lit area by the kitchen, tables in the main room with little tables and couches and an outdoor back patio with twinkling lights. I was hoping for a place where you could stand or sit and grab a drink, but Laurel Hardware seems to be more of a restaurant than a bar.

Yum.
Yum.

We did order food, though, a margherita pizza. It was amazing! I’m very picky about pizza but I would definitely order it again. Our waitress was a little confused but overall very nice. The crowd was well-dressed and super-trendy. We didn’t realize that it was more of a food place than a drinks place – next time I would definitely make a reservation in advance to sit outside on the back patio. But overall, it was a really nice place to go with the girls, and would also make a romantic date night spot, as it’s low-lit and cozy.
